MTC Viper Connect 4-16×32 Scope

Short eye-relief sight with illuminated AMD2 reticle and elevation angle indicator

The MTC Viper Connect 4-16×32 Scope is one of a range of short eye-relief telescopic sights, designed to offer an immersive sight picture. It features MTC Optics’ exclusive glass-etched, AMD2 reticle which is also illuminable. This Viper Connect’s low-profile design is feature-laden. This 4-16x model also features a unique elevation angle indicator to assist with tricky angled shots.

Note: Due to its short eye relief – just 17mm – this is suitable only for low-recoil .17HMR and .22 firearms. Or recoilless PCP air rifles like the BRK Ghost.

About MTC Optics

MTC Optics is a premium brand in the optics world. Their mantra – Designed by Shooters for Shooters – could not be more apt. So their scopes are used by airgun, rimfire and centrefire shooters across all genres – sporting, hunting, plinking, target and extreme competition. MTC offers a vast range of models and designs to suit your every shooting need.

Scope Features

Besides the immersive sight picture provided by the short eye-relief of the MTC Viper Connect 4-16×32 Scope, it’s also very bright. This is down to the scope’s coated optics and 32mm objective lens. This lens features an integral tulip hood to stop reflections and also comes with a pop-off rubber cap.

At the eyepiece, the ocular lens features quick-focus dioptre adjustment (+/-2). It comes with a concertina rubber eyecup to complement the close-up eye-relief.

The scope features a stepless zoom, from 4x magnification to 16x magnification. (Note: A 3-12x Viper Connect is also available if you require less magnification.)

MTC’s exclusive AMD2 reticle (see below) is glass-etched and located in the second focal plane. Its multi-stadia crosshair is super-fine for precise aiming, and the central cross can be illuminated in red. Additionally, the brightness level can be adjusted to suit the lighting conditions and/or target background.

The MTC Viper Connect 4-16×32 Scope also features side parallax adjustment down to 10 metres. This eliminates aiming errors which are particularly prevalent at closer ranges.

Its elevation and windage turrets are low profile. Screw off dust caps reveal finger-adjustable knobs with verniers that are resettable to ‘0’. This Viper Connect’s turret adjustment is in MILs, so one click adjusts the point of impact 1cm at 100m. This reconciles with the AMD2 crosshair.

This 4-16x model also features a unique elevation angle indicator to assist with tricky angled shots.

Suitability

This scope’s illuminable, multi-stadia reticle and fine crosshairs, immersive sight picture and extended magnification range make it ideal for both hunting and target shooting. However, its short eye relief means it is not suitable for recoiling rifles.

AMD2 reticle

Version 2 of MTC’s Advanced Mil-Dot (AMD2) reticle builds on the success of the SCB2 crosshair. While the AMD2 offers many aim-points, it is less cluttered. The reticle combines simplified aiming with circular mil-dot markers. It also has a floating cross for clear and accurate target acquisition. This can be illuminated in red, making it ideal for use on small targets.

The 1 MIL square around the cross gives a rapid acquisition for small, fast-moving targets such as rats. The AMD2 is ideal when shooting at small targets, when bullet drop becomes critical, or when you need a very precise aimpoint. It is also useful for range-finding with the bracketing system.

Mounting

The MTC Viper Connect 4-16×32 Scope is not supplied with mounts. Due to its unique design, MTC Optics recommends this BluePrint One-Piece Mount. This has been designed specifically for the Viper Connect model.
